The Storm

The Storm By Joy Ratem Ochwo

This book is intended for use by people going through difficult situations, those who offer spiritual and psychosocial support, and those who want to acquire knowledge on the subject of emotional trauma. I have experienced many difficult situations and the writing of this manuscript was punctuated by major storms in my life. I have also done ministry among people who are going through emotional trauma. Most stories in here are my own life stories and this manuscript is largely a biblical interpretation of my life experiences. It also contains information about emotional pain and trauma which is very rare and, in most cases, disregarded.

The real-life stories in this manuscript are intended to highlight the broad spectrum of abuses women and children go through and therefore it is also meant for advocacy against violence on women and children.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I was born to the Late Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Grace Ochwo-Kamu in Tororo District
in 1983. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology (KYU), a Master’s degree in Public
Health Nutrition (MUK) and I am currently pursuing an Ordination certificate in Theology at
Uganda Martyrs Seminary-Namugongo. I am a member of Uganda Women Writers Association
and Uganda Text Book and Non Fiction writers Association. I am a founding member and Chief
Executive Officer of THE STORM SHELTER; a Christian Organization that gives spiritual
and psychosocial support to people going through difficult situations. I am a Christian speaker,
inspirational writer and biographer. As a child, writing was my hobby. It slowly developed into
my way of expressing my opinions and a way through which emotions flow out of me. THE
STORM will be my first book to be published.
